Solar Generation
Highland solar panels generate between 840 and 925 kWh per kWp per year depending on location. Longer summer daylight hours at northern latitudes partly offset shorter winter days. Clean Highland air improves panel efficiency compared with urban areas. Cool temperatures also improve panel performance.
Incentives
0% VAT applies to solar PV and battery installations until 31 March 2027 — automatic at installation, no application needed. The Smart Export Guarantee pays you for surplus solar exported to the grid. SEG tariff rates vary by energy supplier. Interest-free credit up to £30,000 is available, subject to status.
Grid Connection
Most Highland single-phase homes support up to 4kW under SSEN G98 fast-track approval. Larger systems require a G99 application. Our installer partners handle all SSEN grid notification as standard. See our how it works page for the full process.
Coverage
Our installer partner network covers all IV, KW, PH, HS and ZE postcodes, including Inverness, Caithness, Sutherland, the Western Isles and Shetland. No-obligation surveys with no travel charge — however far you are from Inverness. See our areas page for the full list.
Accreditation
Scot Energy Efficiency Ltd does not itself hold MCS accreditation — it is held by our installation partners. We install through MCS-certified partners. MCS certification is required for SEG registration and gives you access to independent dispute resolution. Learn more on our installer choosing guide.
